Okay - didn't keep my promise of not putting up poems. But I had put the qualifier 'hopefully' in my last post. So, its not much of a breach of trust :-D

And isn't there some 'Lucknowi' effect on language? :-) Please bear 'with me' (?) if I have messed up the use of Urdu words. Not that there are any profound ones here!

दुनिया को हमसे बेरुख़ी की शिक़ायत है ।

किस्से नहीं सुनाते हम,
हाल-ए-दिल नहीं बताते हम,
ज़ाहिर करते नहीं हम पर
तक़दीर की क्या इनायत है ।

दुनिया को हमसे बेरुख़ी की शिक़ायत है ।

डरते हैं हम अपने ही कल से,
जीते हैं एक पल से दूजे पल पे,
कैसे बताएँ इनायत करने वाली
तक़दीर की क्या हिदायत है ।

दुनिया को हमसे बेरुख़ी की शिक़ायत है ।

आज हम बाँटे ख़ुशियाँ अपनी,
रहमदिल हुई कब दुनिया इतनी,
कल छिन गईं तो सह न सकेंगे,
जो हँसी में उड़ाने की रवायत है ।

दुनिया को हमसे बेरुख़ी की शिक़ायत है ।
