Weather
Okay - when the topics for conversation do not crop up or when they start getting exhausted, people start talking about weather (yeah - it happnes even at mess table of IIML!). Talking about weather is also supposed to be a good way to start talking, if you are not sure what else to start with. Further, if there is someone whom you really do not want to talk to, but have to (and probably the situation is same on the other side), you can actually start and end your conversation with weather and avoid any embarrassment for both the parties. You realize that there is this acquantance you have not contacted for long, and if you want to wait till you have something to talk about, it might as well stretch till eternity, you pick up the phone, say "hi-hello", talk about weather on both sides and then keep the phone till next time you realize you have not contacted him/her for quite sometime.
In short - weather is nice rescue when you do not know where to take a conversation.
Given the recent silence on this blog (does not mean that I have been inactive though - http://ghazallyrics.blogspot.com/ has been taking up my blogging time), I thought weather could act as an ice-breaker here too.
So, weather is Lucknow has been bad. I landed at Lucknow at 7.30 in the evening after my summer internship and the information about weather given inside the flight indicated that temperature outside was 40 degree celcius!! Not without reasons, I was worried about the day-time temperature and of course, next few days turned out to be hell with not a single drop of rain in sight. Then one day, it rained at night. Afterwards, more or less, it has been raining at nights. Temperature is down slightly, but what rain has brought with it is humidity. And humidity, as far as I know, is not a characteristic of weather in these parts of the country at this time of the year. But my knowledge notwithstanding, it is badly humid here and hence that sticky feeling is there all the time. Taking bath any number of times does not help and coolers make the atmosphere inside the room even more humid.
In short, it has been a bad weather out here, leaving no room for creativity it seems :(
But let's hope for better!
