When it does not work... or overworks!

This is a continuation of the previous post in a lighter vein. But first a correction. In the second last paragraph of the previous post I had typed "In general, one need to be afraid of venturing into..". It was supposed to be "In general, one need not be afraid of venturing into" :) It has been corrected there.

But there are certain things one needs to be careful about, while thinking that you could reach anywhere by asking people. It is not true in certain cases. e.g. you shouldn't ask a Lucknowite where Roomi Darwaza is or probably even how to reach Imambada :-D Nor should you ask people in Bangalore as to where the four pillars (one of which is in Lal Bagh) in the city are! (The story is that in 18th or 19th century a king had erected these four pillars in Bangalore to mark the four ends of the city. Irony is that all of them lie almost in the middle of the city now!) I do not know about the status of Qutub Minar in Delhi! But you should not ask people in Kanpur regarding how to reach Bithoor.

That apart, sometimes, it overworks. When I was trying to reach the office of my computer vendor in Kanpur, I asked people and I reached there for sure. But only after going through the three arms of the quadrilateral, when going straight on the fourth arm would have done. From the place where I started asking, the fourth arm started right in front of me. I realized it when I asked my way back of course :-)

Anyway, but that is the fun of it all!

Although only slightly relevant, I remember that recently I was looking for first class coach in a train. I asked someone and he directed me to an end only to find nothing...then I went on the other end, that effort too in vain. So, Again I went to the other end. I remember running back and forth for 3 times when to my respite I found the TTE only to discover that the coach was yet to be connected! I was almost exhausted by that time and guess what? I had to go to the other end once again!
